WHO ARE WE & WHAT WE DO
We’re a group of Curtin University students passionate about understanding the role digital media plays in our everyday lives. Like many young people, we have noticed how easy it is to lose hours each day to mindlessly scrolling, receiving endless notifications, and never-ending feeds. While social media keeps us connected, it can also often leave us feeling distracted, drained, and disconnected from the real world.
That’s why we created the digital detox challenge. A 7-day campaign designed to help students (and even ourselves) rethink the way we use our phones. This project isn’t about quitting social media completely (because we know how hard that would be and frankly, we don’t want to), it’s about finding balance, building healthier habits, and encouraging mindful use of technology.
By combining creativity, research, and our own experience as social media users, we want to be able to start a conversation within the Curtin community, and eventually beyond, about digital wellbeing. Through small, daily challenges and a supportive and inclusive online space, we hope to inspire others to step back and reconnect with what matters.

We’re all about making small, simple changes that add up to a big impact. Each day brings a new step to help you cut back on screen time, be more present, and discover how good it feels to unplug from time to time.

By the end of the week, you’ll not only see the difference these small challenges make, but also feel more in control of your habits online, and we think that’s something worth sharing.
